The Lyon County Economic Development's mission is to retain and attract business, agriculture and residents to Lyon County. We work to ensure that existing business prospers and new business receives all available advantages. Our programs offer technical and financial assistance. We also work to ensure a great quality of life for our residents.

Lyon County Economic Development offers a comprehensive array of economic development services including site selection, business plan development, expansion and relocation planning, and new business ideas. Lyon County borders both South Dakota and Minnesota and is within 10 miles of Interstate 90.

Mid-Sioux Opportunity Inc. is a private non-profit Community Action Agency. We were created under the federal Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. Our purpose is to work toward the elimination of poverty in America. Mid-Sioux serves the counties of Lyon, Sioux, Plymouth, Cherokee and Ida. Our services work on direct methods to assist low-income families as well as those that are more long term. Services such as Low Income Home Energy Assistance and Food Pantries address immediate needs that families may have while our Family Development and Self-Sufficiency project works to help families move away from public assistance. We receive a great deal of support from businesses, community groups, churches and individuals.
